London is definitely the place to visit this Easter

March 19, 2019

London is a great place for an Easter break. There is just so much to do including Easter Egg hunts, pageants, chocolate tasting, mammoth Harry Potter screenings, children’s activities as well as the vast range of museums, walks, theatre and other attractions.

Book London House Hotel Kensington and head for Trafalgar Square on Good Friday for one of the most spectacular free events in London.  A cast of over 100 actors, volunteers together with numerous donkeys, horses and doves will re-enact the Passion of Christ.

Special services are held at all the churches and cathedrals throughout London on both Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Check out the Easter Egg hunts and special trails being held at historic houses like Hampton Court Palace, in parks and gardens.  These are great fun and a wonderful way to entertain the kids.  Many of the museums, art galleries and Royal Parks also hold all kinds of children’s activities such as storytelling and crafts most of which are free of charge.  It is just first come, first served.

Go for an Easter walk on Primrose Hill and enjoy the superb views over London or take a cruise down the Thames and explore the delights of Greenwich and Richmond.

If you fancy something special and unique, then there is plenty of choice. But be warned – pre booking is essential as places are limited.  Lauderdale House, Highgate has the Great Egg Roll, where kids can decorate eggs then see which one rolls the furthest.  While for adults only there is the Alcotraz Prison Cocktail Bar themed experience developed by Inventive Productions.  With bespoke drinks and contraband smuggling involved, this is definitely no ordinary cocktail bar visit!  Equally memorable is the immersive medieval dining experience, interactive show and late-night disco at the Ivory Vaults in St. Katherine’s Dock.

Harry Potter Fans will be delighted by the marathon screening of all eight films being held at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square.  Sit back and enjoy.  Alternatively, head for the secret School of Wizarding Alchemy at Cutter & Squidge in Soho for a pre-booked Potion room afternoon tea.

Budget hotels in Kensington gives you the ideal base for discovering everything and of course, there are the sweet treats to be found everywhere.  Irresistible chocolate eggs can be found in every chocolatier, while the spicy aroma of Hot Cross Buns attracts visitors into cake shops keen to take some home.

Whatever you are looking for this Easter – London is guaranteed to have something for you.
